You know the age old saying, “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”, well the end of that statement is what many these days don’t know “and a sixpence in her shoe”

When I got married my soon to be Mother In-Law gave me a traditional sixpence and I cherished the gift and the tradition.

In Victorian times brides wore a sixpence in her shoe on her wedding day, this tradition ensured financially prosperity and a wealth of happiness for the bride and groom throughout their married life. When the coins became rare the tradition did too.

Being an Event Planner I am a sucker for tradition and etiquette so I like to give my bride’s a sixpence for their walk down the aisle- good fortune and good luck everyone can use a little extra.
